What is the nisab for gold?
The widely used nisab for gold is 7.5 tola, about 87.48 grams. Many people who also hold cash or silver use the silver nisab of 52.5 tola instead; ask a scholar which applies to you.
How much zakat is due?
2.5% of the value of the gold you have held for a lunar year, once it reaches the nisab.
Is zakat due on jewellery that is worn?
Scholars differ. In the Hanafi school, followed by most people in Pakistan, zakat is due on jewellery too. Ask a scholar for your own case.
Which rate do I use?
The value on the day zakat is due. Price 22K and 21K pieces at their own purity rather than the 24K rate.
