The gold, the making and the stones: what each part of a jewellery price is, and why the price changes every day.
Why does the price of the same piece change every day?
Because most of a piece's price is its gold, and the gold is priced at that day's rate. When the sarafa rate moves, the piece moves with it.
What are making charges?
The charge for turning gold into a piece: the goldsmith's work, finishing, and the shop's costs. Finer work costs more to make.
Are stones priced separately?
Yes. Stones are priced on their own and added to the gold and making.
Can I work out a price myself?
Yes: the weight, times the day's rate for its purity, plus making and any stones. The price calculator does it at today's rate.
